Enjoy your school reunion?

Posted by WonderWoman in : My life , 2 comments

My 20-year reunion is coming up - interstate (i.e. I am in contact with VERY few of my old classmates, generally speaking). We’re having a night-time do (partners invited) and a picnic (kids invited) the following day. I want to enjoy it.

Nooksters, please tell me:

(1) Would you bring your partner (or would your partner be bored)?

(2) What would you do or suggest (I am in contact with the organiser) to make it a fun night/day?

Tell me your experiences, please!

The end?

Noticed all the euthanasia talk lately? (Four Corners this week, Australian Story in two parts a few weeks ago, radio news re:Four Corners piece etc, insight not so long ago). It has seemed to come in a rush - at least from where I sit (the couch).

I’m particularly interested in the fact that grannies are becoming drug smugglers and drug “cooks” - anyone else think that’s pretty weird?

Best email sign-off

Posted by WonderWoman in : My life , 17 comments

I have an issue - with “cheers”. I hate it as a email sign-off. Someone signed off “cheerypop” on an email to me last week, and I rather liked that. Anyone got other suggestions beyond the usual “regards” etc?

P.S. I dunno where this aversion has emanated from but I just have it, OK? I also hate “What’s up?” in conversation.

We would also like to welcome anyone who would like to attend (entry $15).

If you’d liek to be involved in any way, please phone the school on 9376-7137.

Remember privacy?

The world has gone mad over privacy, I know.

And I find myself in the unfortunate situation of having it discussed within the four walls of our humble WonderHome!

A scene from My Life, about a month before Christmas last year:

WonderWoman is having a shower. WonderGirl (aged 2) barges into the bathroom with a flourish, then takes a seat and settles in.

She thinks.
She smiles.
She speaks:
“I’m having pry-cy with you Mummy.”

Sharing privacy, now there’s a concept.

Talent time

Which talent do you wish you had and why?

I wish I had tact, which I don’t even think counts as a talent.

Which school? Enculturate me!

Ever been asked - in a job interview in particular - “which school did you go to?”? I am not a native of Melbourne, or Victoria for that matter, and so am negotiating my way through the Melbourne middle-class ideas on schools.

WonderBoy and WonderGirl have to be educated somewhere!

I am wondering: are employers here at all interested in what school you went to?

(I went to a shocker, in Qld, but it didn’t stop me doing what I aimed to do post-school).

Are the private school networks invaluable? Of any value?

Pls enculturate me!

Best ever playlist

I know some of you Nooksters have ipods.

So do tell: what’s the name of your fave playlist and what tracks does the list comprise?

On yer bike … but your scooter’ll do

What is the right (kid) age to learn to ride a bike? WonderBoy is 6 - have we left it too late? Well, I guess it could be a topic for him, when in psychotherapy to decades from now…

He has a scooter; actually, he’s on to his second scooter. Just so easy. I wonder though whether we have left a gap in his general education by neglecting bike skills.
