What’s your pick of holiday activities nooksters? Do tell. Please.
Slugs, snails and headlice
Posted by WonderWoman in : Kids stuff , add a commentWonderGirl was intently inspecting WonderBoy’s head as WonderWoman (that’d be me) combed WB’s hair with a headlice comb, searching for recalcitrant lice (head had been treated earlier for the infestation).
WG (aged 2): “Whatchoo doing Mummy?”
WW: “Combing WB’s hair.”
WG: “Why?”
WW: “He has bugs in his hair.”
WG: “He has bugs in his hair?”
WW: “Yes.”
WG: Pauses. Then smiles. He got bugs in his hair; I got snails in MY hair.

Please! What are the secrets of having a restful holiday with small people? Is it possible? Do tell.
Does my daughter need to go to 3-year-old kinder?
Posted by WonderWoman in : Kids stuff , 4 commentsI am a bit annoyed about the kinder system in Victoria. In most suburbs, little more than sessional kinder is available i.e. two or three sessions a week of three or so hours duration. And that’s great if your employed is OK with you working in less-than-three-hour grabs…
So it works for stay-at-home parents. What about the rest of us?
I understand the value of preschool. I intend to send my daughter to four-year-old kinder, even if it means rearranging my life so that she can attend at least some sessions each week, but what’s three-year-old kinder about? Should I rearrange my life for that, too?
All help gratefully received!
Bare and grin
Posted by WonderWoman in : Kids stuff , 2 commentsMust share today’s tricky toddler moment:
Wonder girl (aged 2.5) asked to be a bear this morning. This meant I had to style her pigtails high and make them into little loops that, apparently, resemble bear ears.
I said: “So you want bear hair?”. She said yes.
Style complete, she said: “Look Dad, I’ve got bear hair.”
Then, pointing to her shoeless feet, said:
“And I’ve got bear feet too.”
